Barista

The Woodstar Cafe is seeking a full-time, experienced barista. Job duties include, but are not limited to, coffee and espresso making, customer service, sandwich making, cleaning, stocking, light food prep and some dishwashing. We are a very busy cafe and we are looking for a barista who is comfortable making high quality drinks (including latte art) very quickly. Since coffee service is only one aspect of the job, we seek someone who works the register or makes the sandwiches with the same alacrity they do the espresso drinks. The job is very physical. Applicants should be able to lift 50 pounds from floor to counter height occasionally, and 30 pounds in a range of motions frequently. This is a year-round position. We invest significant training in our employees and expect a one year commitment in return. This job includes a mix of morning and evening shifts. One weekend shift is a must.

Bread Baker/Counter

Is variety your thing? The Woodstar Cafe has a full-time position for someone who enjoys working both in the front and back of the house. Back of the house duties include, but are not limited to mixing, shaping and baking sourdough breads and mixing and baking quick breads and cookies. Front of the house duties include, but are not limited to, sandwich making and other light food prep, register work, beverage service, cleaning, stocking and dish washing. Applicants must have at least one year of professional bread baking experience and six months FOH experience in a busy restaurant or bakery. Culinary graduates are preferred. Even with a culinary degree, much training will be provided for this job. In exchange, a one year commitment is expected. This is a physically demanding job in a very busy scratch bakery-cafe. Most weeks will include 2-3 baking shifts (9-10 hours each) that begin at 3:30 am. Additional counter shifts will be provided to reach a total of 38-42 hours each week. Sunday availability is required. This job does have some flexibility in terms of its format. It can be part-time, baking only, full-time blended front and back or it can be full time, baking only. It's up to you! Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds from floor to counter with ease and lift 30 pounds repeatedly in a range of motions.
